CTMH Caboodle Cards

Just a quick post tonight to share more fun projects with you from the CTMH Caboodle Workshop Kit  . . .

I apologize for my infrequent posting this week.  It is a crazy busy week for me . . . I've had absolutely no time to spend in blogland!! Things should settle down a bit after this weekend & I look forward to visiting all my regular spots again then (and playing along with some of my favourite challenges)!  Thanks for stopping by & be sure to check back on Monday for February's Close to My Heart Stamp of the Month Blog Hop featuring the stamp set "Piece of Cake"!

CTMH Caboodle Workshop Feature Layout - Golf Day

I put together this layout using the Close to My Heart Caboodle Workshop on the Go Kit.  Click on the photo to enlarge.   The layout sketch, as well as additional artwork project suggestions, come in the kit!  The chipboard pieces I have used are also included!
I think the Caboodle paper coordinates well with outdoor pics - sky and grass are perfect with Crystal Blue & Sweet Leaf!  My take on this workshop layout features a 'golf day' spent with my husband, my sister & her husband.  Every year the 4 of us try to get away for a day or a weekend to do some golfing.  We always have lots of laughs & I look forward to our 'golf day' each summer! (I added my journalling to the layout after I took the photo).

CTMH Caboodle Made for Each Other

Love this new stamp set!!  A quick card today for the Stamps & Smiles Sketch Challenge over at Our Creative Corner.  I also incorporated the Frosted Designs challenge to use eyelets!  And finally the Raise the Bar Challenge to use something you haven't used before - which in this case is the stamp set "Love You Forever".

Materials Used (all Close to My Heart, except as noted):
We had an exciting morning here today.  The family & I got into the Olympic spirit and went & watched the Olympic torch relay as it passed near our community here in Calgary!! It was a lot of fun & maybe a 'once in a lifetime' kind of thing - so glad we went!  Can't wait to cheer for Canada at the Olympics in just a few weeks!!  Here is a photo of the 'passing of the flame' which was done right in front of our 'roadside' spot!

CTMH More to Adore Valentine Treat Box

2nd post for today! Woohoo!!  Scroll down to see more!

This past week's project at the Project Tuesday Blog inspired me to create a little valentine treat holder.   This project uses just one sheet of 8.5" x 11" cardstock and some folding!! How easy is that!! You can find the instructions for this box here.  Love how this turned out!

CTMH That's Amore Wedding Dance Layout

This layout features me & my hubby dancing our 'first dance' at our wedding.
I worked a few challenges into this page.  I used Stickles on the flower centers and pearls for photo corners which meets the Humble Pie Challenge of using 2 different types of bling.  This also works for this week's challenge over at Sketches by Tamara which is to use rub-ons, flowers and bling!

Layout design is "Bottom Border - Title" from the CTMH Reflections Book.

CTMH Sweet Home Fridge Photo Frame

Here is a little photo frame I made today.  I added some magnetic tape to the back and will put it on my fridge with a small pic of my kids!  I like having little reminders around the house that bring our sometimes crazy life into perspective!

Materials Used (all Close to My Heart, except as noted):
Update for you on my Library of Memories course.  It doesn't actually start for a few weeks, but I've started doing some of the pre-class assignments.  The one assignment is to 'spend some time with' (not necessarily organize) your digital photos.  Unlike many people, I do actually print ALL of my photos.  So this step isn't necessarily as critical for me, I don't think.  But the idea behind it is to go through the thousands of digital photos you have and pick the 'highlights'  . . . the ones that are definitely scrap-worthy & that capture the 'highlights' of each season and year.  Tag them somehow (depending on your photo software) or copy them to special folders so that you can find them & print them.  Essentially, you want to pare down your collection to a more manageable size - it is time to accept that you are never going to scrap EVERY photo!
While creating my highlight photos for each year, I've also taken it upon myself to add tags/keywords to ALL of my photos so that I can find photos easier when I'm searching for a photo or subject (i.e. I have tags now for each of our names (me, hubby, the kids), 'friends', 'family', vacation, christmas, birthday, etc.).  So when I started this process - I knew it was a big job.  But wow!! It is a huge job! I have a LOT of pictures!  Anyway - I'm still plugging away at it when I have 15 minutes to spare here & there.  And I think in the long run it will be worth it & save me the frustration of trying to scan through hundreds of photos looking for a particular one - which I often do when I have a layout planned in my head!

CTMH Spring 2010 New Product Blog Hop

Welcome to the Close to My Heart new product Blog Hop!  There are 17 fabulous consultants from Close to My Heart celebrating the release of the Spring 2010 Idea Book by showing you some new artwork and projects featuring some of the fantastic new products available now!!
It is easy to do, just follow the links at the end of each post to go to the next stop on the hop!  Enjoy!

I have a few projects to share with you today.

The first is a layout I created using the new Caboodle paper pack!  Aren't the colours fun?  They just screamed 'SUMMER' to me - so I found some great sunny pics to put together my layout! The design is from the CTMH How-to Program Book Reflections and is titled "Sidebar-Original" (I rotated the sketch).

Materials Used (all Close to My Heart):
My second project is a 6x6 inch card.  I used the new Caboodle paper once again, but gave it a completely different look by pairing it with the Barn Red cardstock.  I also used my FAVOURITE new stamp set "State of Mind"!  The design is Kazan's Sketch #43 from the 2 Sketches 4 U Blog.

CTMH Twitterpated Mini-Clipboard

A quick little gift idea.  Thanks to the fabulous Aaron B. for this idea!

I used a chipboard coaster for my clipboard base and then just cut up some scraps of paper from my recycling bin for the notepaper.  I made a pen to match by inserting some patterned paper inside the clear-barrelled RSVP pen.

I made this as a gift to my sister and I added magnet strips to the back so that she could hang it on her fridge.

Materials Used (all Close to My Heart):

Be sure to check back tomorrow - I am participating in a CTMH New Product Blog Hop featuring new products from our recently released Spring 2010 Idea Book.   Haven't seen the new book yet?  Click on the link on the right side of my blog page to view the online copy!  Lots of fabulous new stuff!

CTMH Grace - Another Sympathy Card

Another very simple sympathy card made for my MIL.

Materials Used (all Close to My Heart):
  • Grace Level 2 Paper Pack
  • Best Wishes Acrylic Stamp Set
  • Tickled Pink Acrylic Stamp Set - 2009 promo item, not available to order (but the Delightful Things stamp set has a very similar flower!)
  • Organdy Ribbon (retired)
  • Ink: Barn Red, Twilight
  • Cardstock: Colonial White and Textured Barn Red
On a side note - I registered today for Stacey Julian's online "Library of Memories" class today!  SO EXCITED!! Not sure where I'll find the time to complete the assignments, etc. - but after having read the books - I feel like I want to know more as I put her philosophy into action in my own scrap room.  She only offers the course once per year and I just couldn't bear to wait a whole year!!!  I'll keep you posted about my progress!!

Woohoo!! Check it out!

Yay! Check out the prize I won on the Design Dollies!!
Made my day!!

CTMH Simple Sympathy Cards

My mother-in-law had been asking if I had any sympathy cards . . . I didn't really have any on hand so I made a few for her. I always prefer that sympathy cards be simple and understated, rather than too flowery or over-done.  So here are two of the cards I came up with.

The inside of both cards:

Materials Used (all Close to My Heart):
  • Treasure Life Acrylic Stamp Set
  • Best Wishes Acrylic Stamp Set
  • The sentiment on the front of the card is from the Tickled Pink Acrylic Stamp Set - promo item from 2009, not available to order
  • Cardstock: Blush, Crystal Blue, Colonial White
  • Ink: Chocolate, Blush, Crystal Blue
  • Other: Chocolate Brads, Foam Tape

CTMH Game On Hockey for Homeless Layout

Happy New Year Everyone!!
I have big scrapbooking resolutions this year!! I recently discovered Stacy Julian and I am sooooo excited about implementing her "Library of Memories" approach to scrapbooking! I figure what better time to start than the beginning of a new year!  If you haven't read Stacy's books, I highly recommend them!

I have some new artwork for you today.  My husband plays in a charity hockey tournament every year with his company and this year they gave us a 'team pic' as a memento . . . so what is a wife to do but create a layout, right?
The layout design is from the Close to My Heart book Reflections
